Playing with Pinterest

I started using Pinterest years ago. I love it. Talk about a time suck. I would get lost wandering through images, lusting after delicious food, searching for plants, pinning amazing garden pics, looking at adorable animals …

I never used it for business. Pinterest was just my surfing pleasure. I’m slowing starting a new account. I’m going to include a few boards that relate to my business as well as Pinterest tangents. I accidentally discovered I have a Pinterest code. Who knew? I unintentionally clicked on my profile click and boom! There it was. I don’t fully get what I can do with it yet, but I have it. Here it is:

It’s pretty. If I understand this correctly, the colorful dots around my profile pic (pink heart) create a scannable code kind of like a bar code. Am I suppose to hotlink it to my Pinterest account? Still much to learn.

I’m also experimenting with Amazon giveaways. The first one I did was with my Dream Catchers Journal and it went super quick. It was over in 24 hours. I think my odds were generous. More about that in another post.

Lots of new shirts and journals posted this past week. Pop sockets coming soon.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Magical Lemons & Limes

Many years ago, a friend taught me a trick she came up with for having fresh slices of lemon and limes in her water. She washes them, slices them, then puts them in the freezer. Whenever she wants a slice in her water, she pulls one out, plops it in and as it melts the juice flavors the water.

Genius.

I still do this and love it. I drink a lot of water. In fact, it’s pretty much the only thing I drink most days. There’s the occasional cup of hot chocolate in winter or a glass of wine every so often. Sometimes I drink herbal tea. Most days though it’s just water. I enjoy sparking water, and have a soda stream so sometimes I spark my water and enjoy the bubbles. Most of the time it’s just water and adding my frozen slice of fruit makes it feel special. Every. Single. Time.

For some reason, this tip has recently popped up in conversation a few times. It’s not something I normally discuss or look for ways to work into conversation. But there it was, and each time I shared it the person was so appreciative of the tip. It got me thinking (perhaps overthinking) and it occurred to me that these simple slices felt more to me than easy ways to enjoy their fresh juices. They feel like a treat, like something decadent, like I’m doing something special for myself. I feel abundant and grateful to have them.

Each time this came up, as I was sharing my tip, I felt reminded that we can derive good feelings from simple things. Maybe in addition to the easy way to have a fresh slice, this came through as well. I hope so.

I’d love to know about your magical lemons and limes.

Sunday Funday

My cats are three years old. In cat years, they’re grown ups, pushing 30 in human years. Cat years pass faster and as I get older, time moves much faster for me too.

Wishing everyone a happy #sundayfunday

April

Spring is finally here. It nearly avoided April, teasing where I live with a few nice(r) days scattered between the cold, snow and yuck. We had a lot of neither winter or spring crappiness this year and I didn’t care for it. I like my seasons more defined or rather, I like the days to stay in their lane. I’m not a fan of snow in April or 75 degrees in January unless I’m where that’s expected.

In almost every way, I enjoy the unexpected. The problem is that where I live, this weather weirdness messes with nature. The trees and bushes bud too early then freeze. Many are still completely bare here. Flowers pop up and freeze, missing their chance for this year. I love watching everything come alive in the spring and I enjoy the moderate temperatures as we change from winter to summer.

So until recently, we haven’t had a spring. Then it sprung. I walked down the street this morning and enjoyed seeing the flowers that have shot up, the green leaves that seem to have come out almost overnight. The sun was out and the air felt soft on my skin.

Now that we are into spring, I need to get moving. I told myself that once the weather became more hospitable I would get out and walk. The jaunt this morning was just down to my mailbox, so it doesn’t exactly count though it was walking and outside. I mean, I need to start taking walks. Moving. Exercising. I am way too sedentary. So many of the things I enjoy involve laying and sitting. One of my more popular t-shirts reads “Petting my Cat is my Cardio.” This is who I am.

So just as spring could no longer procrastinate it’s arrival, I must get my butt moving. Yes, I could have been doing some kind of exercise already. I have a treadmill, a gym membership, a house to clean. I could also berate myself for the delay, but also like spring’s arrival, better late than never.

Heads-up! If petting your cat is your cardio, check out redbubble. They are doing a 20% off site wide sale today with code MOMSDAY. I did a little shopping this morning. See, even my shopping is sedentary. Anyway, the site is filled with lots of talented artists and fresh designs.

Here’s a link to my redbubble designs for this tote and other items in this collected work.
